The benefits of volunteering with ICSS are countless. We offer you the opportunity to pick up new skills, improve your CV, make new friends and of course, give something back. We don’t just teach, we focus on the students themselves and work as mentors to support their progress.

We at ICSS, believe in building strong communities through a collective effort. This is our approach to all of the activities we organise to promote equality of opportunity in both education and general social development for children from the local community and further afield. Our tutoring sessions, mentor programme and workshops are geared to specifically meet the demands of our tutees and optimise what our volunteers have to offer. We draw on your experiences to make learning come alive for our students.

The support of our volunteers has allowed us to cater to the needs of children from one of the most deprived areas in London since 2004. We need your support to continue to offer this much needed service.

A number of our volunteers have harnessed their experience at ICSS to go on to study the PGCE at reputable universities and have successfully become fully qualified teachers. Many commend their experience with ICSS for their new found confidence with public speaking, team work and stepping out of their comfort zone, not to mention the sense of fulfilment and achievement gained from giving up some of their time to help others.

By joining ICSS, you are joining a network of enthusiastic, industrious and committed people from all walks of life who work together to bring about positive change. Many former students at ICSS come back to teach and share their experiences as students with us.

And we don’t spend all of our time in the class room… We regularly organise fun days out to national parks, museums, exhibitions and host an annual outdoor day at activity centres like Lambourne End, Grangewaters and Fairlop Waters as well as group gatherings, just for our volunteers.
